Another Great Weekend Working on the Railway Avenue Home

Our missing wall and stairs arrived bright and early Saturday morning, so we were able to finish putting up all exterior walls on the Railway Avenue home.  Our trusses arrived mid-morning and installation began that afternoon.  By the end of the weekend, all trusses were up, the 2nd floor roof was sheathed, the fascia was framed and all interior and exterior walls were installed.

A huge shout out to our volunteers: Mike, Terry, Nick, Colin, Ben, Chere, Kevin, John, Chris and Kellon.

We’d also like to thank our community partners from our first two weeks on the site: ATCO, Brignall Equipment Solutions, Hertz Equipment Rental, Northern Diesel, Pam Gordey Trucking, Parsons Creek Aggregates, Rex Contracting, Sassine Construction and TLC Disposal.

We will be off this Friday, in observance of Remembrance Day, but will be back on site for Saturday and Sunday. Our tasks for the weekend include:

  • front and back entrance stairs/landing
  • helping our plumbing/HVAC expert with rough-in work
  • framing finishing work (pre-framing inspection touch-ups)
  • minor site-scaping work to even our ground surface out before winter freeze up
If you have a few hours to spare this weekend, sign-up online HERE.
